Auto & Diesel department was raised and established at its current location in 2007 with the assistance of Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). Initially 50x students were inducted for Diploma of Associate Engineer (DAE) course. Strength of students was increased to 100 students in 2010. Additional evening session of 50x students was commenced since 2015. Short courses of 6x months of Auto Mechanic and Auto Electrician were started in 2013.

The department is presently comprised of 17 faculty members, out whom 5 are qualified engineers, 11 are qualified associate engineers in the Auto & Diesel discipline. These are highly skilled performing their duties in importing technical skill in the department. Basic science subjects are covered by specialists of their respective subjects.

Duties of lab attendants and naib qasid and sanitary workers are further augmented for smooth and clean working in the department. Mission of the department is to impart theoretical and practical training to students in the field of auto & diesel technologies in the outlines describe by PBTE and in NAVTTC and NTB their course outline. The department is having a fantastic approach to bridge the gap between the latest inventions in the field of auto & diesel technologies with the basic concepts already available in the syllabus.

To accomplish the goal department assigns mini projects of specialist nature to 3rd year students in the specialized topics for in department analysis and brain storming of all the members of the faculty and students included in the groups. Specialised and emerging technologies in Automobile industry like hybrid and electric driven cars are being incorporated in future curriculum.

The department has vision to incorporate the latest available concepts to meet the future challenges.
